Dell's interesting marketing

Please let me tell you, this is not because I no longer love my MacBook, or that I am not in love with the Apple OS. I simply need a machine that can run some applications that are not offered for Apple machines (like Atlas.ti). While shopping for my new computer, I noticed this advertisement.

So Dell is basically that I can save enough money by choosing a Dell over an Apple that I can buy an Apple product. Interesting. In all fairness, if I was saving $1000 I think I would get the iPad over the iPod touch. Just a thought. But still, does this type of marketing actually work?
